Common problems in direct UV-LED printing on plastics — and how artisJet solves them

What sets a UV-LED printer apart from other printing technologies is the UV curing technology. UV-LED printing is a non-impact inkjet printing technique that instantly cures or dries ink droplets directly onto the printable substrate. It is remarkable what a single UV-LED printer can produce.

What are the common problems in UV-LED printing on plastics?

1. Flying inks that contaminate materials

All digital printers distribute colours using piezoelectric technology. However, some ink droplets can randomly splatter due to air while the printer is in operation. This creates dust and soils the ink system and printhead, shortening their service life.

2. Static electricity from materials causing overprinting

Surface electrostatic charge is also the cause of many common print defects. Static electricity, generated by plastics, paper, glass, ceramics and other non-conductive materials, interferes with ink direction during printing, deflecting ink particles from their intended paths and causing defects such as overprinting.

How does artisJet solve it?

Filtration system to absorb floating droplets

artisJet air filtering system front
artisJet air filtering system back

artisJet UV-LED digital printers are equipped with a professional filtration system close to the carriage (approximately 7 cm), minimising the dust generated by the inks. This results in a longer service life for the entire ink system and clean, clear prints.

Anti-static system to neutralise material electricity

artisJet anti-static bar

artisJet anti-static bars, installed at the material loading port 2 cm before the start of printing, can produce large amounts of positive and negative air mass charges that neutralise the surface electricity of the object. When the object surface is negatively charged, it attracts the positive charge in the radiation area, and vice versa, thereby neutralising the surface static electricity.

Combined benefits

  • ✅ Longer service life for the complete ink system
  • ✅ Clean and clear prints without smudges or overprinting
  • ✅ 100% guaranteed ink droplet direction
  • ✅ No ozone emissions or hazardous waste — safe for shops, kiosks and public spaces
  • ✅ Compatible with plastic, acrylic, glass, aluminium, PVC, ceramics and much more
