artisJet UV-LED continuous ink supply system (CISS)

The artisJet continuous ink supply system (CISS) is one of the key differentiating features of artisJet UV-LED printers. Unlike cartridge-based systems, the CISS allows 100% utilisation of the available ink, at a significantly lower cost per print.

Why continuous ink supply?

• Reduced cost per print — refillable ink bottles instead of disposable cartridges. Ink consumption is very low: only 30 ml of all inks combined per printed square metre.
• Easy and portable refilling — small 200 ml bottles that are easy to handle and refill without complications.
• Prevents settling — the small bottle format prevents the TiO² in the UV-LED ink from settling if the ink remains in the tanks for a long time.
• Less maintenance — the system is designed for prolonged service with minimal user intervention.

CISS system components

Ink tanks	Open 200 ml ink bottles per colour. Continuous ink supply system (CISS).
Ink pump	Draws ink from tanks and directs it via motorised pump with top cap.
Ink tubes	Dark plastic tubes 3×2 mm, 1.5 m length. Numerical code per colour (1–8).
Dampers	Filter ink before the printhead. One per colour.
Printhead	Fires ink onto the substrate via piezoelectric technology.
Cleaning system	Silicone wiper + waste tank. Automatic or manual maintenance.

CISS system maintenance tips

• Use inks within 45 days of opening to ensure quality.
• Replace or clean ink bottles every 3–5 months.
• Clean the top cap via automatic cleaning and replace it every 3 months.
• The self-maintenance system takes care of the printer even during idle periods of up to 35 days.

Real printing cost

To put it in perspective: one printed square metre is equivalent to approximately 130 iPhone phone cases with full print coverage — all with just 30 ml of combined ink. This level of efficiency makes the artisJet system one of the most cost-effective in the UV-LED printing market.
